Having recently rewarded fans’ loyalty with a very special live album ‘Live At King’s Tut’s’ made available exclusively through iTunes, THE XCERTS are now set to release the third single from their critically acclaimed debut album; ‘In The Cold Wind We Smile’. ‘Nightschool’ - a standout fan favourite in the band’s live set – will be released as a download single on 5th October through Xtra Mile Recordings. The angst-ridden anthem will be backed with an atmospheric remix of ‘Home Vs Home’ by The Blueskies.

The video for ‘Nightschool’ captures the essence of the band’s live set with a raucous performance at a house party. Directed by Ricky Gibb and Richard Watson and shot at lead singer Murray MacLeod’s house at night, the video depicts the preparations for and goings-on at the house party building to a climatic end with the band performing live in the garden.

Million Dead - ‘A Song To Ruin – Deluxe Edition’

KKKKK – Kerrang! 9/10 – Rocksound 4/5 – The Independent 8/10 – NME 9/10 – Metal Hammer

Six years after its original release, Million Dead’s seminal debut album ‘A Song To Ruin’ is lovingly re-mastered, re-packaged with a DVD and made available to buy for the first time in over 4 years.

million dead

‘A Song To Ruin’ originally came out on 8th September 2003 amidst a scene of British bands playing music inspired by American hardcore. The London quartet’s particular brand was fast-paced punk, that experimented with unusual time signatures, mind-boggling lyrical genius and killer riffs and made them one of the most respected and acclaimed bands from the scene. The album cracked the Top 20 Independent Chart on week of release and was described by then Kerrang! Editor Ashley Bird as: “Jaw-droppingly fiery, punk-fuelled noise laced with intelligence and soul...” and by The Independent as “A quite incredible debut.” The singles ‘Breaking The Back’ and ‘I Am The Party’ were championed by Radio 1’s Zane Lowe and Mike Davies, the videos were on constant rotation on MTV2 and the band received a nomination for Best Newcomer at the Kerrang! Awards.

‘A Song To Ruin’ sold out of it’s original pressing and as the band split, no further ones were ever manufactured. It was never made available digitally either and so for four years, this celebrated album has become impossible to find and highly sort after. Until now! This re-mastered version includes all original 10 tracks as well as 5 bonus tracks of demos, b-sides and the single ‘I Gave My Eyes To Stevie Wonder’.

Inspired by hardcore heroes Black Flag, Million Dead spent their lives on the road touring and playing anywhere and everywhere. And it was live that the band’s talents truly shone through - their musicianship matched only by their frenetic individual performances. Ben’s powerhouse drumming, a blur at the back of the stage; Cam’s intricate riffs blending perfectly with Julia’s aggressive basslines and Frank, an unhinged master of ceremonies, shouting complex lyrical rhymes whilst hurling himself across the stage and into the crowd.

Million Dead - A Song To Ruin

With this in mind, this re-mastered album is accompanied by a DVD that includes the long awaited video footage of their last ever London performance at the Underworld in 2005 as well as their last gig with original guitarist Cam and every promotional single video from both albums.

Reuben - Double CD & DVD Bonanza!! Plus new single 'Blitzkrieg'

On 24th August 2009 Reuben will release ‘We Should Have Gone To University’ on Xtra Mile Recordings; a double CD and DVD package featuring all their b-sides and a host of previously unreleased material. It has been lovingly assembled by the band together with Xtra Mile to create an epically comprehensive and nostalgic collection; a big thank you from the band to the fans.

reuben new 3 print

Reuben decided to call it a day in June of last year, declaring an indefinite hiatus after years of battling the many pitfalls of the music industry whilst juggling ‘proper’ jobs that, in the end, simply wore them out. In their time together the cult three-piece from Aldershot, who had been together since 2001, released three studio albums – ‘Racecar Is Racecar Backwards’, ‘Very Fast Very Dangerous’ and ‘In Nothing We Trust’ - one DVD titled ‘What Happens In Aldershot, Stays In Aldershot’, two EPs and a host of singles (including a Christmas song), all to critical acclaim. They toured extensively, earning themselves not only recognition but a number of Radio One and MTV2 top spots as well as a Kerrang! award nomination for Best British Newcomer.

Reuben - university cover

Their creative output in their time together amassed a wealth of music and film footage. From the first forays of their debut ‘Pilot’ EP in 2001 to the demos and out-takes from recording their third and final album in 2007; ‘We Should Have Gone To University’ is 47 tracks long, encompassing past releases, album demos, b-sides, live session tracks and previously unreleased gems. A must for any mourning Reuben fan and of course, any newcomers.
