Latitude Festival and Suffolk County Council fund exciting new activity area for local children.

Continuing to support the local communities in Suffolk, Melvin Benn Managing Director of Festival Republic, the organisers of Latitude Festival, will be officially opening a new activity and play area for children in the neighbouring areas.

On Thursday 14th May, Melvin Benn will be cutting the ribbon on an exciting new project at the local Brambles Nursery where donations generated at Latitude Festival are directly going to fund a fun and educational outdoor space for children to call their own.

With this funding from Latitude together with Suffolk County Council, the grounds behind Brambles have been developed and transformed into a challenging activity and outdoor learning area to both physically and mentally stimulate the young nursery goers. It is also environmentally friendly and all made from sustainable wood sourced within the UK.

There is an amazing music section which includes a rain wheel, a glockenspiel, chimes, and a drum. Decking provides a stage to encourage role play, a digging area is set to one side for the children to care for and plant flowers and vegetables, there is a sand pit the children can climb into, and a designated space for story telling. Physical activity is encouraged in the form of an A frame, a swing bridge, and a tunnel.

Brambles Nursery is based at The Reydon and Southwold Children's Centre and offers day-care all year round for children and a breakfast club and after school facilities for older children. Latitude has its own charity donation department that supports both local and national charities and Brambles are delighted to have secured funding from this well needed project.

Now in its fourth edition Latitude Festival continues to inspire and innovate offering the very best from the worlds of music, film, comedy, theatre, cabaret, dance, poetry, literature and art. With stunning individual performance spaces dedicated to each of the arts, the arenas are treasure troves of talent with open doors and inviting atmospheres. Sit back and be entertained by over 700 performers or participate and learn a new skill in the many workshops on offer, there are new experiences round every corner. Latitude encourages you to open your mind, embrace the unknown and try everything; a fun-filled, cultural adventure by the sea; the ideal weekend away.
