JOHNNY LLOYD
‘DREAMLAND EP’ OUT 10TH JUNE 2016

Johnny Lloyd will release his debut ‘Dreamland EP’ on 10th June through Xtra Mile Recordings. The 4-track debut will be released digitally and all pre-orders will receive the track ‘Hello Death’ (unveiled last month) instantly.

Produced by Jamie T at his studio in Hoxton, the track is a statement of intent: “Hello death is about saying goodbye” says Lloyd. "I wrote it during a transition in my life. Saying goodbye to old faces and ways. It was the end of one time and the start of another."

Lloyd’s solo EP is a year in the making. Having started working with Jamie T back in March 2015, he spent the summer producing tracks with Hugo White (The Maccabees) at the band’s studio in Elephant & Castle. Together they re-produced 'Happy Humans' and ‘Pilgrims' - demo versions of which have racked up over 200k streams already online, after Lloyd recorded them at home on his 8-track - and ‘Dreamland', which all feature on the new release.

The resulting 4-track EP is an exciting, rousing but melancholic work about "new beginnings, realisations and trying to find a place in life”.

Aside from the release, 2016 is set to be an exciting year for Lloyd. Having recently supported Jamie T, Mystery Jets, The Maccabees and Black Honey, Johnny will be playing at The Great Escape, 2000Trees Festival, Dot To Dot and many more throughout the summer.

XTRA MILE RECORDINGS
TAKEOVER THE AXIOM STAGE AT 2000TREES FESTIVAL
ON THURSDAY 7 JULY 2016

Xtra Mile Recordings are delighted to announce that they will take over the Axiom Stage at 2000Trees Festival for the whole of Thursday 7 July 2016. The relationship between the label and the festival has long been strong both sharing a passion for brilliant feel-good music.

Joining in the festival’s tenth anniversary celebrations, Xtra Mile has ten acts playing across the weekend, including the takeover of the Axiom Stage. Confirmed so far is the gruff, upbeat poetry from Beans On Toast; the diverse, folk-infused politicism of Crazy Arm; some tender yet sharp self-deprecation via Ben Marwood; Rob Lynch’s positive and indelible pop songs, and the melodic schism of Oxygen Thief’s ferocious and intelligent thrash. There is more to be announced as well as stage times which will be available nearer the weekend.

There are four more artists playing across the weekend. Two of the newest signings play on Friday – ex-Operahouse and Tribes vocalist Johnny Lloyd playing new solo material from his upcoming EP  Dreamland (out 10 June), produced by Hugo White (The Maccabees) and Jamie T, and Brighton’s uplifting up-and-comers The RPMs, drawing from their live back catalogue and four-track EP Digital Disobedience (out 24 June). Saturday sees the eclectic patchwork-dance form of Sam Duckworth’s Recreations, as well as increasingly-popular gift of a songwriter Will Varley.

Xtra Mile has often had a strong presence at 2000Trees, having had Frank Turner play the very first in 2007 and on three more occasions, including headlining, Ben Marwood, as well as previous XMR acts Jamie Lenman (2014), Sucioperro (2011), and Sonic Boom Six (2010). Fans have long connected the label and the festival, with the infamous, Camp Reuben, Camp Marwood and Camp Turner springing up over the years, allowing like-minded XMR fans to meet, sing, laugh, and occasionally watch impromptu solo sets by our artists.

2000trees Festival organiser James Scarlett says “we’ve had such great links with Xtra Mile over the years that it seemed the obvious decision to partner with them for our 10th anniversary. I’m particularly excited about the Thursday night Axiom Stage which features an incredible line up of Trees’ Xtra Mile favourites with more to be announced. Watch this space!”

Other acts playing at 2000trees 2016 include Refused, Twin Atlantic, The Bronx, Mallory Knox, Neck Deep, While She Sleeps, Basement, Lonely the Brave and Moose Blood. Tickets are on sale now from www.twothousandtreesfestival.co.uk/tickets/
