Future of the Left release new single 'sheena is a t-shirt salesman' on 12th March through Xtra Mile Recordings

Future Of The Left - sheena is a t-shirt salesman - sleeve
Future of the Left are pleased to announce the release of their brand-new-outside-of-their-own-heads single 'sheena is a t-shirt salesman', which is taken from their forthcoming Xtra Mile Recordings (Frank Turner, The Xcerts, Against Me!...)-released album 'the plot against common sense'.
Released on March 12th, 'sheena...' is approximately 125 seconds of semi- aroused rock band engaging fully with their instruments and shouting a lot, sometimes deliberately. Casual listeners are invited to enjoy it or leave the building.
The song is taken from the previously mentioned long-playing collection ‘the plot against common sense', which is to be released on May 28th. Constituting 49.8 minutes of singing, shouting, slinking, smashing and (at times) sobbing, the album is the best thing the band have put their name to in this or any other dimension, a fact which is not open to debate.
In March, the band will be playing at the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas (the Xtra Mile Recordings showcase as well as other shows) and laughing at the identical tattoos which dot the streets like anti-establishment Coke machines. A UK and European tour is scheduled for June.
More to follow.

Recorded, produced, engineered and mixed by Pete Steinkopf (of The Bouncing Souls), ‘Resolutions’ showcases Hause’s songwriting talents and his many influences ranging from Patty Griffin to Paul Westerberg.

Dave Hause played his first solo shows in 2009 and has since shared the stage with a wide variety of artists including Bob Mould, AFI, Frank Turner, Tim Barry (Avail), Jim Ward (At The Drive-In, Sparta), Tommy Stinson (The Replacements, Guns & Roses), Franz Nicolay, Chuck Ragan (Hot Water Music) and Brian Fallon (Gaslight Anthem).

REEF formed in 1993, signing to Sony imprint S2 Records the following year. Their debut 1995 album ‘Replenish’ achieved Gold status and saw the band play shows with the Rolling Stones, Paul Weller and Soundgarden.
The follow up to Replenish, 1997’s ‘Glow’ stormed the UK Charts at Number 1 and included the single ‘Place Your Hands’. In 1999 the band released ‘Rides’ (George Drakoulias) and in the same year the band saw off the likes of Oasis and Pulp to win the Music Industry’s Soccer Six competition. Rides was followed by the poppier sounding ‘Getaway’ produced by Al Clay (Pixies, Stereophonics) in 2000 which was most notable for the single ‘Set The Record Straight’. Always a favourite at shows and Festivals alike, the band made many high profile appearances during this period, including Glastonbury and Reading festivals.
This incredible box set compiles all these phenomenal successes and lovingly documents the story of how West Country’s finest sons went from fledgling band to one of the best loved rock acts of the nineties.

Jim Lockey and the Solemn Sun - Brand new single ‘A Song About Death’

Tipped by the NME as one of the 100 bands to check out in 2012, Jim Lockey and the Solemn Sun are to release their new single ‘A Song About Death’ rather fittingly on St. Valentine’s Day – 14th February 2012 – through Xtra Mile Recordings.

Jim Lockey - A Song About Death
A passionate and frenetic track it highlights their incredible blend of country-folk and indie-punk that makes them one of the most poetic and engaging new bands in British music.
The single is accompanied by a short run of dates – with a full UK headline tour currently being booked for the whole of May. Details to come.

FEBRUARY
9 Dublin Castle, London
17 The Maze, Nottingham
23 The Furnace, Swindon
MARCH
13 93ft East, London
17 Shatterfest, York

‘A Song About Death’ is taken from their forthcoming album, ‘Death’, due out in April 2012. Produced by Peter Miles (King Blues, Crazy Arm, Futures) ‘Death’ encapsulates the band’s vast sound into 11 tracks, as the young quartet draw from a plethora of influences including alt. country folk and hardcore punk. Coupled with a strong political ethic and a “play-till-you’re-dead” attitude ‘Death’ is an innovative and arresting record, crammed with hook-filled soaring harmonies, innovative rhythms and passionately honest lyrics.

It also features the track ‘Warriors’ which the band made available for free late last year.

In two short years these anarcho-anglo storytellers have incessantly toured the country, including as main support on Frank Turner’s February 2011 UK Tour plus shows alongside the likes of Mumford & Sons, Dry the River, Johnny Flynn, Alessi’s Ark and Pete Doherty. In the summer they also performed at numerous festivals such as the Big Chill, Beautiful Days, Wychwood and Y-Not, including a packed performance as headliners on the second stage at 2000trees.

With tours and festivals being confirmed and an ever growing fanbase eagerly awaiting the album, 2012 is going to be a fantastic year for this up and coming band.
