The Xcerts - Release 'Stairs To Noise: The Scatterbrain EP'

Release 'Stairs To Noise: The Scatterbrain EP' on 7th March through Xtra Mile Recordings and join The Rock Sound Exposure Tour

The Scatterbrain EP - Packshot
Following on from the release of the singles ‘Slackerpop’, ‘Young (Belane)’ and their extremely well received second album (4/5 Kerrang, 5/5 Big Cheese, 8/10 Rock Sound) THE XCERTS will be departing from the standard single track release to bring fans the 'Stairs To Noise: The Scatterbrain EP'.

With the lead track ‘Scatterbrain’ being anything but a straight-down-the-line mainstream chart single it made sense to give the fans something different explains frontman Murray Macleod, “We had some tracks left over from the album sessions we did in New York that we really liked but didn’t work with the flow of the record so rather than just release another single, we decided to put these songs onto an EP along with a specially recorded cover Elliot Smith’s ‘Say Yes’ to sell at a reduced price as a reward for our fans loyalty.”

Feldberg release debut album ‘Don’t Be A Stranger’ on 11th April through Smalltown America

Feldberg

Icelandic duo Feldberg release debut album ‘Don’t Be A Stranger’ on 11th April through Smalltown America preceded by single of the same name on 28th February
Iceland and its volcanic output may not be flavour of the month (or year) with Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary, but the island continues to inspire and amaze as a musical force. Meet Reykjavik pop-rock duo Feldberg, the newest addition to Iceland’s enviable canon of internationally acclaimed acts and the latest signings to Smalltown America's blossoming, eclectic roster.

Feldberg - carnaby St pic

Consisting of singer Rósa Birgitta Ísfeld and multi-instrumentalist Einar Tönsberg (better known as Eberg), Feldberg first came together in 2008. Einar had recently returned to Iceland from London and was looking for a vocalist to record ‘Running Around,’ a song he had written for an advert for an Icelandic shopping mall. “It was a lovely accident,” explains Einar. “I needed a vocal, somebody to do a female vocal. I called up my friends and they all said ‘You have to call Rosa.’ She was at my studio ten minutes later and she hasn’t left.” Rósa adds: “It was really comfortable from the very beginning, like it was destiny. I felt like I should stay once I was there. It’s kind of like a relationship without the romance.”

“We kind of decided not to analyse anything,” says Einar. “Our rule was just to do the first thing that came to mind. Keep it fun and simple. I guess we’ve both been in projects where we’ve over-analysed things and wanting to do the most special music in the world but now we just want to do what’s natural for us.”

The duo’s singles ‘Don’t Be a Stranger’ and ‘Dreamin’’ have turned heads both at home and abroad. ‘Dreamin’’ won Best Song at the 2010 Icelandic Music Awards and was selected by trendsetting French boutique label Kitsuné for its Maison 9 compilation, while ‘Don’t Be a Stranger’ spent four weeks in the Icelandic top 10. ‘Don’t Be a Stranger’ will see its release on our fair shores on the 28th February through Smalltown America followed by the duos debut record which shares the same name on 11th April.

‘Don’t Be A Stranger’ tracklisting:

1. In Your Arms
2. Farewell
3. Dreamin’
4. Running Around
5. House of Fun
6. Eleven
7. You & Me
8. Sleepy
9. Don’t Be A Stranger
10. Love Me Tomorrow

The Crave release Matt Hyde (Fightstar, Slipknot, Trivium...) produced debut album

“The Crave just showed me again why I think they are one of the best rock 'n roll bands in the World right now ... period.” - Zach Myers, Shinedown

Back in a simpler time there was no indie, no emo, no nu-rave. No post-this, post-that, post-whatever the hell else. There was just riff-laden, ballsy rock 'n' roll; huge songs, life-changing gigs and a whole world of noisy, gutsy fun that took people out of their dreary everyday lives and made them feel truly special. It's from this effervescent historical well that the UK's most charismatic young band draw their inspirations. But this is no retro pastiche - these boys are young, hungry and bringing anthemic rock songwriting flailing and wailing into the 21st century.

BTS_packshot
"Being in this band is an escape from reality, all that matters when we're onstage is the music and the audience and making sure every person in that room leaves feeling like they have just been a part of something truly special" Ryan Burnett (vocals and guitar).

The past 3 years have seen the guys complete 3 tours of the US including shows at the Harley Davidson 105th Anniversary alongside Bruce Springsteen and the Foo Fighters, the Brit Bus tour which took them 5,000 miles across the country on an English double-decker bus and a headlining show at the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel Casino on Halloween night. Add to this over 140 tour dates in the UK & Europe since the start of '09 both on their own and with Shinedown, Hinder, Buckcherry, Theory of a Deadman, Heaven’s Basement, Flyleaf and more - plus slots at Download, Sonisphere, Rock Im Park & Rock Am Ring festivals last year - and The Crave achieved all of this with their record not even having been released!

The Crave’s debut album 'Breaking The Silence' will be released on 7th March 2011. The record was produced by the Grammy Award nominated Matt Hyde (Fightstar, Slipknot, Trivium, Gallows …) at Ironworks studios in Brighton.

Ben Marwood - Debut album 'Outside There's A Curse' to be released on 31st January 2011

Having ploughed the lo-fi folk-rock furrow since 2004, and along the way gathered support slots with Frank Turner, Chris T-T, Jonah Matranga and Get Cape, Wear Cape. Fly, twenty-odd songwriter Ben Marwood is set to furnish us with his debut album proper. 'Outside There's A Curse' will be released on Xtra Mile Recordings on 31st January 2011.

Ben Marwood - Outside Theres A Curse
2010 has seen Ben experience ups followed by downs followed by ups - playing 2000Trees festival, his only guitar breaking on tour, supporting Frank Turner on his Reading and Leeds Festival warm up shows, recovering from unemployment only to find himself almost homeless. Still, Ben has continued to record songs wherever and whenever he could. Starting out 14 months ago on an 8-track portable studio before utilising the kindly nature of fellow songwriter Jay Newton, and his bedroom floor, this long-awaited collection of sardonic and honest acoustic-led tales is finally completed.

Two years after the release of 'This Is Not What You Had Planned', the independent mini-album that grasped the attention of The Times, Artrocker, BBC Radio 1 & 2 and XFM, and following last year's 'Exclamation At Asterisk Hash' split with Oxygen Thief and Jim Lockey, 'Outside There's A Curse' firmly establishes Ben's coiled, lyrical style. Though the angst of 2008 lingers, along with the expected pop culture sideswipes and name-checking, it is complemented by a philosophical acceptance in the face of death ('Toil'), a will to make good on past mistakes ('I Will Breathe You In') and light-hearted jabs at his own shortcomings ('Oh My Days', recorded live in front of a studio audience of thirteen).

Tracklisting:
1. I Will Breathe You In
2. Singalong
3. Toil
4. A Shower of Bastards
5. They Will Float Your Body Out To Sea
6. It's Harder Now To Break Your Stupid Heart
7. Oh My Days
8. JJ Abrams
9. Tell Avril Lavigne I Never Wanted To Be Her Stupid Boyfriend Anyway
10. The District Sleeps Alone Tonight (The Postal Service cover)
