Straight Lines - Release new single 'Commitments' (16th April) and album 'Freaks Like Us' (23rd April) through Xtra Mile Recordings

SL-BP-27
Having just won over a small army of fans on a UK tour with Canterbury and released single ‘Half Gone’; the first to be taken from the band’s second album ‘Freaks Like Us’ STRAIGHT LINES are now ready to announce the plans for their new album’s release.

‘Freaks Like Us’ will be released on the 23rd April through Xtra Mile Recordings (Frank Turner, Against Me!, Far…) preceded by the single ‘Commitments’ a week earlier. As with the band’s first album, ‘Persistance In This Game’ Straight Lines new album was recorded by the band’s bassist and producer Todd Campbell at the end of 2011. ‘Half Gone’ has caused much anticipation for the record scoring ‘Single of the Week’ on Kerrang! Radio, ‘Single of the Month’ in Rock Sound magazine and was Huw Stephens 'Next Hype' on Zane Lowes BBC Radio 1 show. You can watch the video for ‘Half Gone’ on the band’s official website: www.straightlinesband.com

Straight Lines - Commitments
Lead singer/guitarist Tom Jenkins says "’Freaks Likes Us’ is a 10 track straight-up rock album covered in melodies from start to finish, it draws influences from bands such as Jimmy Eat World, Weezer and At the Drive-in with an undertone of British rock from bands like Reuben, Hundred Reasons, Biffy Clyro and Yourcodenameis:milo.

‘Freaks Like Us’ is made up of songs that reflect on real stories and experiences. If you had to define the title then it basically means coming to the realisation that you're not alone in how you think or act. The songs are less personal on this album and more of an observation into the people around me.”

The tracklisting for ‘Freaks Like Us’ is as follows:

1. Freaks Like Us
2. Commitments
3. Half Gone
4. Ring The Bells
5. Empty Chest
6. Back Of Your Mind
7. The Dealers Hand
8. To Be Scene
9. Bury My Thoughts
10. So Many Paths

The band has toured with the likes of Funeral for a Friend, The Subways, Kids In Glass Houses and The Get Up Kids. You can catch them on tour with Presidents of the USA in March:

Straight Lines - Release debut album 'Persistance In This Game'

Release Debut Album ‘Persistence In This Game’ on 15th February and New Single ‘Runaway Now’ on 22nd February 2010

- Tom Jenkins (Vocals/Guitar) - Dane Campbell (Drums/Backing Vocals) - James Pugh (Guitar) - Todd Campbell (Bass/Backing Vocals) -

Straight Lines

Straight Lines brought 2009 to a triumphant close with hugely successful back-to-back support tours with Kids In Glass Houses, The Automatic and Motorhead. The shows which formed the band’s first national tour of the UK saw them shift up to 200 copies of their limited edition debut EP ’Versus The Allegiance’ a night!

Straight Lines kick off their 2010 campaign with a slot at the SXSW festival in Texas and as support for the band continues to grow they’ll be releasing their debut album ‘Persistence In This Game’ on the 15th February through Xtra Mile Recordings (Frank Turner, The Xcerts, Reuben…). The album’s release is followed by the single ‘Runaway Now’ a week later on the 22nd February.

Straight Lines set about recording ‘Persistence In This Game’ as an unsigned band, and with no money to bring in a named producer or fly to expensive studios in America, the band turned to their bassist Todd Campbell and record their debut album in his studio situated in the garage of his house. The band began work on the record in October, and with the help of their friends in other bands they managed to gather enough equipment to record and they emerged with a completed album at the end of the year.

‘Persistence In This Game’ is a straight-up Rock & Roll record spliced with infectious anthems (Loose Change, Runaway Now) heartfelt ballads (The Ballad Of Peter Devine, Set Me On Fire And Feed Me To The Wolves) and rhythmic riffery (Versus The Allegiance). Keep your eyes peeled for one of the most exciting bands of 2010!

Straight Lines - Sign to XMR, release single and tour with KIGH, Automatic and Motorhead!

Sign to Xtra Mile Recordings, Release Debut Single ‘Versus The Allegiance’ and Tour with Kids In Glass Houses, The Automatic and Motorhead!

Straight Lines

Straight Lines was initially conceived by lead vocalist and guitarist Tom Jenkins and drummer Dane Campbell after the demise of their previous band. The Welsh duo set about collating ideas and writing new material that would later form the basis for the band’s debut album. With no money to go to any other studio or producer to record the album they turned to Dane’s brother (and guitarist with local heroes Dopamine) Todd Campbell to play bass and help them produce and record their debut album in his studio situated in the garage of his house. With the help of their friends in other bands they managed to gather enough equipment together to start work on recording. Two weeks into recording the band would then be completed by Tom’s old college friend James Pugh on guitar.

Straight Lines - Versus The Allegiance - Front

Fast forward a few months and Straight Lines are ready to release the first fruits of their labour; ‘Versus The Allegiance’. The hard-hitting single is the first to be lifted from the band’s flawless debut album ‘Persistence In This Game’ which will be released through Xtra Mile Recordings (Frank Turner, The Xcerts, Reuben…) in early 2010. ‘Versus The Allegiance’ will be released through iTunes and all major DSPs on 7th December.

Tracklisting:
1. ‘Versus The Allegiance’
2. ‘When In Doubt’ (Demo)
3. ‘All My Friends Have Joined The Army’ (Acoustic)
4. ‘Visions’ (Acoustic)

Despite the band’s short existence, Straight Lines ability to pen infectious rhythmic anthems has not gone unnoticed and they have already secured forthcoming support slots with Kids In Glass Houses, Young Guns, Attack!
